In his last blog post, Paul Borawski talked about Training on quality field, provided inside organizations to their employees, and the ones professionals pursue on their own for their professional improvement.

The ASQ’s Global State of Quality research shows that “Organizations that govern quality with a centralized group are roughly 30 percent more likely to provide quality training to staff than organizations where a senior executive governs the quality process. And only five percent of the surveyed organizations provide no quality training at all.

Even when companies recognize the importance of training in quality field and others, they are still a little bit reluctant to spend money on that. They consider training only for new employees, because if they train to every workers, those are more likely to leave the company for better opportunities. But, actually, the opposite is true because trained staff are more motivated and confident so they are more likely to increase the loyalty to their employer.

Because of that, I would like to highlight in this post some of the most important benefits of Training, in any field. Before that, let’s remember the definition of training:

Training is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies. In an organization environment, training is the process of enhancing the skills, capabilities and knowledge of employees for doing a particular job.”

If I have to give my definition of Training, it would be:

– From the perspective of a company, TRAINING = INVESTMENTS
– From the perspective of a professional, TRAINING = CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Let’s take at look at the graph I made with some of the benefits of training (Click the image to enlarge it):

In simple words, Training OR Investment in professional development is a win-win situation for a company and its employees, and of course, for customers and suppliers.

As Benjamin Franklin said: “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.

Does your company invest in training? Or Do you pursue training on your own?
