Introduction to Quality
While studying the Quality subject in the last year of my engineering career, I began to feel interest on quality. Then, working for a renowned software development company in Cordoba, Argentina, and being part of the team responsible for implementing CMM Level 2 (successfully implemented!!!), I set my commitment and developed passion for quality.
Why Quality?
Many times I asked myself, which is what I like about quality, or why I was attracted to it. Quality is a life philosophy to me. I am sure quality is in our day-to-day routine: the way you communicate, the way you dress, the way you behave socially and at work, the way you take care for our planet, the way you plan your goals for the future, the way you act to improve every day; therefore, my interest in studying this philosophy.
Aristotle said: “Quality is an art won by training and habituation. We are what we repeatedly do. Quality, then, is not an act but a habit”.
Why write a blog?
Studying for my CQPA exam, I had to do a lot of research (on Internet, books, articles, etc.), and made my own notes to prepare myself for the exam. After pass the exam, I had the idea of put my notes and knowledge in a blog, so other people interested in the same field can get the information all in one place, and also to share concepts with other quality professionals, exchange opinions, and create a quality community (wordplay intended!).
Cuban writer, José Martí, said: “Everyone to be complete has to plant a tree, have a child and write a book”. In this technological age, we could replace the last part of the phrase and say “… and write a Blog.” What do you think?
In 2012 I was invited by the ASQ, to be part of an expert group of quality professionals called “Influential Voices”, where I contribute to a monthly discussion on key quality issues, based on what ASQ’s CEO proposes to discuss on his blog “A view from the Q“.
“I’m part of the ASQ Influential Voices program. The thoughts and opinions expressed on my blog are my own.”
Quality Quote
Every day we must work to achieve our goals, focusing on the recipients of our actions and always, always keep in mind that we can improve.
“Quality is everyone’s responsibility and we never have to stop getting better”
